Building Designers Australia (BDA) student mentoring program

After a successful trial in 2015, the new national mentoring program for BDA student members was rolled out. This initiative is run by the Building Designers Australia Accreditation and Training committee, with the aim of assisting student members currently studying to become building designers.


Viridian factory visit

Members of Building Designers Australia visited the Viridian glass manufacturing plant at Erskine Park. The newly completed 20 million dollar factory was fully automated and an impressive sight.


Weathertex factory visit

As  a member of Building Designers Australia, Susan had the opportunity to visit the Weathertex factory in Raymond Terrace. Weathertex produces modified timber cladding products manufactured from 100% Australian products.


Sydney TAFE Open Day - 29th August

Building Designers Australia (BDA) hosted a stand at the Sydney TAFE Open Day where prospective students can find information on TAFE courses. BDA provided information on training to become a building designer and promoted building design as a profession. The stand was attended by Annaleisa Hampshire, Justin Strauss and Susan.


University of Tasmania - Graduate Certificate in Timber

Susan was awarded her Graduate Certificate in Timber from the University of Tasmania at a graduation ceremony held in Launceston. Her interest in the use of timber in construction led her to study this subject.


Architecture and Design

The digital publication Architecture and Design featured an article about Susan's career change from medical scientist to building designer.
