Indoor-outdoor feel with a light filled pavilion
A pavilion at the rear of this two storey terrace contained the kitchen, bathroom, toilet and laundry. The kitchen was dated and lacked bench space and storage. The dining room connected the main house to the pavilion.
The interior of the pavilion was reconfigured to allow access to the new bathroom and separate toilet through a short corridor off the kitchen. The new kitchen was fitted with an integrated laundry, and abundant cabinetry. At the client’s suggestion the kitchen was enlivened with a red splashback. Installation of a pull-down ladder provided access to a hidden mezzanine for more storage above the kitchen. Large double glazed doors now open from the dining room to a secluded courtyard.
The revised configuration gave an indoor-outdoor feel to the house and the new light filled pavilion provided a sense of space.
